
Mission Statement
The Berlin Institute for Population and Development aims to improve the perception of and dealing with international demographic changes in the context of sustainable development. In this respect, the Berlin Institute concentrates on the development and promotion of concepts and scientific findings to contribute to a sustainable future.
Code of financing and funding
The Berlin Institute for Population and Development Foundation is an independent scientific research institute. The Berlin Institute is financed by contributions, project funds, earnings of the foundation´s endowment and contributions to the endowment. In order to ensure its independent status, the director of the Berlin Institute has been instructed by the steering committee to maintain a balance between the different funding sources.
The Berlin Institute for Population and Development is recognized by the German tax administration (Finanzamt Hannover-Nord). It was founded in the year 2000 by Marlene von Reichenbach and gets general support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Sponsors may not have any influence on the results of the Berlin Institute´s studies.
