The Berlin Institute for Population and Development was founded in the year 2000. It is financed by contributions, project funds, earnings of the foundation´s endowment and contributions to the endowment.

The Berlin Institute for Population and Development writes studies and papers, provides scientific informations für the political decision process, generate regularly the free newsletter "Demos" and compiles an Online-Handbook Demography.
