The English version of the Online-Handbook Demography does not contain the complete German version yet, but you can find several articles here.

The online handbook contains information about:

  • basic terms of population geography and demography,
  • historic and contemporary population developments on a worldwide, European and German level,
  • and causes and consequences of diverse demographic developments.

The online handbook is concerned with fertility, mortality, migration, population growth, ageing, population policy and family planning. It also deals with the spatial dispersion of the world's population. Furthermore, it informs about the correlation between demographic development on the one hand and resource consumption, nutrition security, ecological development, education and political conflicts on the other hand. The articles not only contain information about these interdependent developments, they also display strategies on how to approach problems and conflicts.

Renowned scholars from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and the United States contributed to the online handbook. The editors are Dr. Reiner Klingholz and Stephan Sievert.

The handbook is constantly updated and extended. It is a useful tool for anyone who is interested in demography, particularly for multiplicators and students.

All articles are available as print versions and pdf-files. Links can be found at the end of each article.
