"Demographic change is not
on the political agenda"

The poster illustrates the connections between development and population on six clearly designed world maps, shows the locations of global demographic crisis zones, and clarifies which measures would be necessary to tackle the problems.

How will the world’s population develop by 2050? Which countries – such as Germany – are affected by shrinkage? Where will rapid growth continue? And which living conditions in the poorest countries are responsible for the fatal cycle of poverty and disease, educational deficits and low levels of development, and of a lack of women’s rights and high numbers of children?

You can access a detailed description in German as well as the PDF version here.

The double-sided poster was created with the kind support of the Munich Re Foundation and in cooperation with the German Foundation for World Population (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung - DSW). On the back of the poster, the DSW tells the story of 15-year-old Brenda, whose father died of AIDS and whose mother is HIV positive. As a youth counsellor in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, Brenda educates other youths about the dangers of unprotected sex. The East African nation has the highest rate of youth HIV infection worldwide.
