Launch of Berlin Institute Report & Panel Discussion on Young People’s SRHR in Africa

Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Africa:
Centering Youth Perspectives & Needs

On this year's International Youth Day, August 12, we are thrilled to launch our new report “Africa’s Future Is Young” on young people’s priorities for their SRHR. Based on interviews with young activists and youth-led organisations in Nigeria, Zambia and Tanzania, the study highlights the biggest gaps in young people’s SRHR today and identifies key approaches to better support young Africans.

Today, the largest youth population lives in Africa: three out of five people on the continent are under the age of 25. This generation will shape the future of the continent and investing in their future is paramount. In addition to education and jobs, progress in sexual and reproductive health and rights SRHR is critical so that young people can lead self-determined lives.

As the world marks the 30th anniversary of the ICPD Programme of Action, we hear and honour the call issued earlier this year in Cotonou, Benin at the ICPD30 Global Youth Dialogue to centre young people’s perspectives and needs.

Join us as we share key findings from the new report, followed by reflections and input from a youth-led panel discussion. We are thrilled to be joined by:

  • Innocent Grant, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Tanzania
  • Clara Peter Maliwa, Program Officer, DEI Lead at Young and Alive Initiative, Tanzania
  • Felicity Nneoma, Public Health Practitioner, FP2030 Nigeria Youth Focal Point, Nigeria
  • Hannah Haynes, Grants Manager, AmplifyChange

We look forward to an engaging and productive exchange and hope you can join us!
